A Kentucky barbecue restaurant is being hit with unprecedented blow back by liberals online after the business began selling shirts changing the meaning of “LGBTQ.”
Typically, the “LGBTQ” acronym represents sexual identities. However Belle’s Smoking BBQ, which sells delicious BBQ out of a food truck, started selling T-shirts that radically redefine what LGBTQ means.
Rather than “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer,” the T-shirts say: “I support LGBTQ: Liberty, Guns, Bible, Trump, BBQ.”
Restaurant owner Jamie Smith said he and his employees have been wearing the shirts for over a year now, but only received negative blow back after he advertised the shirts on social media, which triggered an avalanche of progressive indignation.
Smith said the internet “went berserk.” He is also claiming that there were “about 30” violent phone calls his business received.
Smith was forced to delete the Facebook post.
Here is an apology he had to issue,”Belle’s Smoking BBQ apologizes if we have offended any groups, organizations or individuals with our shirts. We respect all beliefs and lifestyles and want no ill will towards anyone,” the statement said. “We know each person has their own thoughts and beliefs but we are hurt that the people who are saying, ‘stop the hate’ are the ones coming at us with the harassing messages and threatening phone calls. Again we apologize for any hurt feelings and thank our supporters who truly know us.”
Smith told WXIX-TV he didn’t want to hurt anyones feelings but wanted to “stand” for his values.
“At the end of the day, we have to stand for what we believe in. And like I said, if this has offended anyone, that wasn’t our intention,” Smith stated. “But, it’s just a good play on words.”
