Things are getting interesting….
New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez loves to fight on Twitter, even when it is against powerful members of her own Party.
Some people could call that brave, but many call it a desperate cry for attention from a child sitting at the kid’s table.
But whatever you think of it, she did it again on Saturday to House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi after Pelosi scorched her.
In an interview with The New York Times the Speaker scoffed at the “Twitter World” of the representatives and the power they think they wield.
I asked Pelosi whether, after being the subject of so many you-go-girl memes for literally clapping back at Trump, it was jarring to get a bad headline like the one in HuffPost that day — “What The Hell Is Nancy Pelosi Doing?”
The article described the outrage of the Squad, as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts are known.
Pelosi feels that the four made themselves irrelevant to the process by voting against “our bill,” as she put it, which she felt was the strongest one she could get.
“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world,” she said of the young representatives.
“But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got,” she said in the interview.
It only took hours for Rep. Ocasio-Cortez to get back into her “Twitter world” and fight back against the Speaker of the House.
“That public ‘whatever’ is called public sentiment,” she said. “And wielding the power to shift it is how we actually achieve meaningful change in this country.”
“I find it strange when members act as though social media isn’t important,” she said. “They set millions of [dollars] on [fire] to run TV ads so people can see their message.
“I haven’t dialed for dollars *once* this year,” she said. “& have more time to do my actual job. Yet we’d rather campaign like it’s 2008.”
“I don’t believe it was a good idea for Dems to blindly trust the Trump admin when so many kids have died in their custody. It’s a huge mistake.
“This admin also refuses to hand over docs to Congress on the whereabouts of families. People’s lives are getting bargained, & for what?” she said.
