The leader for the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan posted a video that encourages racial segregation and claimed it to be “what God wants.”
The video was bared the straightforward title of “Blacks Must SEPARATE from America!” and contained footage captured in a 2015 interview Farrakhan had on “The Rock Newman Show.”
Close to the start of the interview Newman poses the question, “[Is it] your goal of the Nation of Islam to still establish a separate nation or state?”
Farrakhan quickly answered, “That’s not just my goal. That’s what God wants! Most of our people don’t want it yet. You love your enemy. You want to stay with your enemy. You’re in love with his wealth!”
He then infers that any black person who doesn’t share his view is a slave. “Oh, I understand the fascination, slaves!” Farrakhan said. “I understand that. But God has something else for us!”
“Let me tell you what’s gonna happen,” he continued. “Yes, I’m after a separate state. A separate nation. In the ’60s, what was our cry, Rock? We weren’t saying we want to integrate, we were saying ‘It’s nation time!’ Black Power to do what? To integrate a lunch counter? Black Power to build a nation for 40 million — now near 50 million — black people.”
How is this progress for our nation? In what way does this promote equality among citizens of the United States? Does Farrakhan not recognize that this would only divide us further?
