See what she said for yourself…
Rumors are starting to spread that 2016 Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton could get into the 2020 presidential campaign as a candidate.
Clinton was interviewed on CBS on Sunday morning and has a full slate of interviews scheduled for next week which has gotten many to speculate about her candidacy.
But when the former candidate appeared on CBS on Sunday morning with her daughter Chelsea Clinton to discuss their new book “The Book of Gutsy Women,” the subject of the 2016 presidential election and President Donald Trump reared their head again.
“Look, there were many funny things that happened in my election that will not happen again,” the former candidate said.
“And I’m hoping that both the public and press understand the way Trump plays the game,” Clinton said to Jane Pauley before new excuses came.
“I believe he understands that the many varying tactics they used – from voter suppression and voter purging to hacking to the false stories – he knows that there were just a bunch of different reasons why the election turned out like it did,” she said.
Clinton said she does not believe that President Trump will win another term and said that “he knows he is an illegitimate president.”
“He knows. He knows that there were a bunch of different reasons why the election turned out the way it did. And I take full responsibility for those parts of it that I should.
“But hey, it was like applying for a job and getting 66 million letters of recommendation, and losing to a corrupt human tornado.
“And so, I know that he knows that this wasn’t on the level. I don’t know that we’ll ever know everything that happened.
“But clearly, we know a lot, and are learning more every day. And history will probably sort it all out. So of course, he’s obsessed with me. And I believe that it’s a guilty conscience (insomuch as he has a conscience),” she said.
She said that she supports the impeachment inquiry that was announced by House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi, which she believes will damage his chances in 2020.
“Given this latest revelation, which is such a blatant effort to use his presidential position to advance his personal and political interest, there should be an impeachment inquiry opened,” she said.
“And I think, sadly, there are a number of grounds. But this one is incredibly troubling.” The former secretary of state said.
“I don’t care who you’re for in the Democratic primary or whether you’re a Republican, when the president of the United States, who has taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, and by that, defend the American people and their interest, uses his position to in effect extort a foreign government for his own political purposes, I think that is very much what the founders worried about in high crimes and misdemeanors,” she said.
“I had a chance to visit with Nancy backstage and I really share her view that the seriousness with which she has addressed the question of impeachment is exactly in line with what a sobering decision she had to make,” she said.
“And now she must proceed with an impeachment inquiry into the president,” Clinton said. “This occupant of the Oval Office poses a clear and present danger to our future and our democracy.”
“This is not a partisan political statement, it is a harsh reality, which is why the Speaker has acted. Because it goes to the core of our values, our strength, our freedom, our security, our prosperity,” she said.
